If you want to get more done in 2024 remember these words.
Automate. Delegate. Eliminate.
Remember these words.
Make them your mantra!
You’ve set your goals for the year (if not go back to the previous post setting goals) now you need to action them.
This is the fun part, where you get to see the progress of what you’re doing and getting closer to your goals!
automate
If you want to get more done – in less time – learn to automate, or better, get someone to create your automations for you.
What is automation?
Automation is the use of software/AI/technology to do tasks that you would normally do. Think mass emailing to your list, automatic replies and that kind of thing. It means that you don’t have to lift a finger and the job still gets done.
Usually it gets done more efficiently too, because a robot is doing it, and human error doesn’t come in to play.
How to automate:
Usually this is set up through software. I use the Full Circle Selling System, and it automates basically my whole life! It books people into my calendar – and reminds them of our meeting! It responds to messages when I’m away, it sends my bloody invoices out for me – and lets me know when they get paid!!! it runs my business for me, freeing up time to grow the biz in other areas. And write stuff like this!!
So you need to invest in a system that allows it.
delegate
One of the best things I did for my business was taking jobs off my plate.
And using people, who’re better than me to do jobs I don’t want to do anymore, was the most freeing thing I’ve ever done!!
If you have staff, then honestly, good for you! Having staff and employees, however, isn’t for me. I like to work on what I want, when I want. And being responsible for others scares me! However, employing someone like a VA or a web developer who can help me on jobs has been priceless. Freelancers might be more expensive, however it takes the pressure off finding wages when times are quiet, and I honestly feel I get a better service for it – because I’m their customer!
Delegation allows you to grow your business in other areas, and still get the work done, which is one of the biggest problems solopreneurs have. We suffer with peaks and troughs in our business because there’s only so much we can do. There’s an good amount these days that you can automate (see previous point! ⬆️⬆️⬆️) and for that reason, you should definitely be automating. But we should also delegate where we can afford to, and where we need it.
VA’s are worth their weight in gold!
eliminate
What do you do in your day to day, that you shouldn’t be doing??
I’m as guilty of this as anyone – I procrastinate the crap out my day!! No lies, I’ll be honest with you. 🤯
But this is where our monkey/cave man brains come in and sabotage us. We don’t do the things we should be doing to grow our business, because generally, these are the tasks we don’t want to do!
I don’t want to pick up the phone and call to sell, but I know it will grow my business! So usually I’m doing things like “admin” or creating pretty posts in Canva
So what jobs are you doing that is making you a busy fool?! Making you feel productive when really it isn’t moving the business forward in any way.
there’s a challenge for you! I’ll do the same, what can you eliminate from your tasks to free up time? One of mine would be to be fighting the fires that land on my desk. If something lands on my desk, unless it means that something catastrophic will happen for my clients or myself.
